At around 10 a.m. that day police responded to a report of a drive-by shooting at Homewood Suites Hotel, 65 Glastonbury Blvd.

A dark SUV, with at least two men inside, drive into the back parking lot and discharged a handgun in the direction of the 23-year-old woman and her son, police said. The victims were visiting people at the hotel when the shooting happened. They were treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police said the drive-by was not a random act.

“Our investigation leads us to believe this was not a random act, but instead a targeted assault on someone who was in the area at the time,” police said in a Facebook statement. “Therefore, we don’t believe there is an ongoing threat to the Glastonbury public.”

The matter is under investigation. Anyone with information about the shooting is being asked to call police at (860) 652-4260.
